It's Always Sunny and Warm!
The climate is as close to perfect as it can get, averaging 83°F (22.7°C) in the winter and 85°F (29.4°C) in the summer. In other words, you can go to the beach all year long! We are surrounded by beaches, so come on by and get a suntan as well. The most famous are Isla Verde, Luquillo and Ocean Park.
We speak your language.
Both Spanish and English are the official languages. Our Island's main business is tourism, all our people are very friendly and eager to help you in anything you want.
If you want to hang out at night, this is your place.
Bars and restaurants near tourism hot spots open very late, some until 3am. The legal drinking age is 18 years old. If you are planning to hit the town when you come to the Convention, our picks are Isla Verde, Condado and Old San Juan. You can even lay at the beach getting a suntan and buy a beer without moving!
You don't need a Passport if you're coming from the US.
No visas or passports are required to enter Puerto Rico from the United States. Mail is sent through the US Postal Service at the same rates as on the mainland, we also have UPS Stores, FedEx just like in the US. Also, the local currency is the U.S. dollar! Major credit cards are accepted at most businesses, and ATMs connected to major US and international networks are easy to find.
We can seem small, but we're a lot of people!
Close to 4 million people live on the "Island of Enchantment," with more than a million in the greater San Juan metropolitan area alone. It is a vibrant, modern, bilingual, multicultural society. Residents of Puerto Rico have much in common with their fellow Americans in the continental United States.
